The WRITTEN WORD is where we invite you to submit your original poetry, prose, short stories and plays. Selected pieces will be published on THE QUILL. Selected plays will be presented on one of our STAGES. Published professionals, outsiders and students are part of our community.
“The unread story is not a story,” said author Ursula K. Le Guin. Become a featured KBBAL writer of the month, and share your story (or your play, or your poem) with your community.
Submission forms are at the bottom of this page.
Guidelines for Play Submissions:
KBBAL invites applications for 5-10 minute plays for our ‘playwright of the month’ to be featured on our website.
Submit a script of up to 5 pages (monologue) or up to 10 pages (dialogue) in standard play formatting, 12 point font. Please send a script of your play ‘blind’ (e.g. without name or contact information) along with a separate document including the name of your play, your name and contact information including email, address, and phone in our online submission form below.
Selected plays will be invited to produce a video for streaming presentation on our website. In keeping with current Covid regulations, videos should either be recorded on zoom, with socially distanced readers/actors and readers/actors from the same household.
Selected plays from this festival may also be invited for production in KBBAL’s 2021 Fall Arts Festival (TBD).
After that, we will have on-going consideration for additional plays. If you are interested, please fill out the submission form. All selected pieces will be archived for the public to enjoy at any time, as well as a direct link to those writers who would like to be contacted directly. Building community through the arts and cultivating deep connection is our mission.
